Jorvik Viking Centre

Having being refurbished in 2010 to incorporate new displays based on excavations made in the area, the Jorvik Viking Centre is a renewed and exciting attraction in the heart of York. There’s a glass floored visitor centre where you can see some of the finds unearthed from under the streets of York, a fully restored medieval townhouse and Micklegate Bar; primary entrance to the city from the 12th Century and now opened as a museum for people come and explore.

The centre looks to relive the history of the Viking’s in York around a thousand years ago and is not only great entertainment but also has a real interest in educating it’s visitors on the history of York and the extensive archaeology which has gone into discovering it. A real treat for those visiting York the Jorvik Viking Centre is a must see for those looking to explore the area.
