The walled Garden at Scampston is a beautiful contemporary garden designed by the Dutch plantsman Piet Oudolf. Situated in the grounds of Scampston Hall in Malton, North Yorkshire the gardens provide the perfect day out.
The gardens are separated into three different areas. The Walled garden is set in the original kitchen garden and surrounded by the 18th century walls. The woodland Garden runs along the Lower Lakes and contains many trees and other woodland plants and wildlife. You can also enjoy a self guided walk of about a mile from here.
The gardens also offer you the chance to buy some interesting and unusual plants.
Scampston Estate was built around 1700 and was remodelled to a design by Thomas Leverton in 1800. Today you can take a guided tour around the house in peak season. There is also a restaurant within the garden which means you can spend the whole day exploring both the gardens and the house.
