The sheltered harbour at staithes has a small beach and lots of rock pools to explore when the tide goes out. The fossil hunting is known to be especially good after a storm – this area is known as the Dinosaur Coast and there are special guided walks in the area, great for child friendly exploration days! The beach at Runswick is a three mile cliff top walk from the bay – a great way to see some of the wildlife.
The village its self has three friendly pubs, a seafront fish and chip shop, and an award winning restaurant - the Endeavour. The Seadrift café on the harbour front also sells delicious homemade soups and cakes.
