Saltburn by the Sea is an old Victorian seaside resort with an eight mile sand and shingle beach which is surrounded by high cliffs. Its waters are popular with surfers and swimmers with a life guard patrolling the sands in peak season. One of the highlights on the beach is the renowned Cliff Lift which takes visitors up and down the steep 120ft cliff. The promenade has a number of coffee shops and even surf hire for those wanting to brave the seas.
