Semerwater is the largest natural lake in North Yorkshire. It is half a mile long andcovers 100 acres and lies at the heart of Wensleydale just south of Askrigg.

Semerwater is a magnet for water sports enthusiasts. It attracts canoeists,windsurfers, yachtsmen and fishermen. It is the only tarn in the Dales where sailing is allowed.Since 2009 there has been an annual swim ofone mile in the Lake. It usually takes place in August and is open to any brave individuals who like a challenge.

For those who would prefer explore this stunning area on dry land, there is a 6km circular walk around Semerwater, with an option of a fell top return route. This optional loop makes a 7.5km total walk.

There is a private pay and display car park at the foot of the lake.
