Mountain biking and cycling

If you enjoy cycling then you will feel right at home visiting Yorkshire. The area offers a huge variety of cycling opportunities, whether it’s taking to the country lanes or going off-road on single tracks.

It’s a region that is crisscrossed with national cycleways that follow old railway tracks, custom built paths and quiet leafy lanes. And the trails across the dales and moors offer endless cycling possibilities for both novices and the adventurous alike.

Cycling is a lovely way to explore the area whilst you’re on holiday. You get to see more and feel more in touch with the countryside around you and you can be sure that wherever you stay there will be some great cycling routes close at hand. From the more gentle routes in the valleys to some challenging climbs over expansive moorland and from the wild and remote northern dales to the rolling farmland in the east, the cycling is always memorable for its fantastic scenery and beautiful villages.

Way of the Roses Cycle Route

This is one of the newest cycle routes in Yorkshire and was completed in September 2010. It is a fantastic coast to coast cycle route starting from Morecambe.
