A great family holiday home on the east coast of Yorkshire, situated in the village of Skipsea this house makes the perfect base for a super holiday, and the village has a local shop, post office and pub. A large four bedroomed property with lots of space and excellent facilities with views over open countryside. The owners have renovated the property to a good standard with a great deal of thought making it an ideal holiday property for families. The super king sized bedroom known as the London room has a heated water bed and a London theme throughout, one of the bedrooms doubles up as a games room with a Wii/WiiFit, TV, DVD player and board games to keep the children entertained whilst you relax in the private hot tub. The property has its very own summerhouse with an American themed bar, with lots of quirky items.

The market towns of Driffield and Beverley are just a short drive away, and both offer several markets selling local produce that are well worth a visit. Hull, voted the UK City of Culture for 2017 is just over 20 miles away and you will find several museums, parks and plenty of entertainment here. The east coast has plenty of fantastic beaches suitable for families and most have gained awards. The traditional seaside resort of Bridlington, is a Victorian resort which still has a very good working harbour and a beautiful long wide sandy beach. The smaller beaches of Skipsea, Ulrome and Fraisthorpe are close by, and don’t forget Hornsea where there’s also a factory outlet for a little shopping. Further up the coast there’s Filey, Flamborough Head and Scarborough all with great family beaches. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Honeycomb House is a good base to visit most of them. Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and Sewerby Hall are just a short drive from the property. From Sewerby Hall you can catch the train along the cliff top into Bridlington, the children love it, and it’s a great walk back to the hall with a lovely grassed area for picnics.

About the local area

Part of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, the area around Bridlington and Hornsea is rich in areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bridlington is renowned for its award winning beaches. Hire a beach chalet and let the children enjoy the fun at Kiddies Corner, or take a trip on the Land Train to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

An impressive country house with acres of gardens to explore, Sewerby is also home to a small zoo where children are sure to delight in the popular Humboldt Penguins. Wet weather is never a problem, with plenty of amusement arcades along the seafront and Leisureworld, which boasts an indoor fun pool, complete with waves and waterslides.

Fourteen miles south of Bridlington is the little seaside town of Hornsea, housing a pottery museum and Bettison's Folly, a Grade II listed tower, while nearby Hornsea Mere offers sailing and fishing.

North of Bridlington is Flamborough Head, a chalk headland with the oldest lighthouse in Britain, which was built in 1674 but never used. There is also a newer, working lighthouse, where you can climb the 119 stairs and admire the extensive views. This is a Special Area of Conservation and a birdwatcher's paradise, with its regular visitors of gannets and puffins.

Danes Dyke at Flamborough is a massive flat topped bank and ditch that cuts through the headland. Believed to have been built as a defensive structure, it dates back to the iron age and is now a nature reserve, offering the visitor a series of walks and nature trails to explore.
