Description

The Grange Holiday Cottages are a group of barn conversions finished to a very good standard. They are perfect for families or couples who love the great outdoors with many fantastic walks along the rugged cliff tops. The five holiday cottages (refs 30794, 30795, 30796, 30797, 30798) are an ideal setting if there’s a few of you wanting to get away together. The owners have a successful campsite nearby and have taken great care in providing an alternative type of holiday with the barn conversions to provide superb holiday accommodation. Each cottage has a vaulted ceiling, giving sense of space and light, however every cottage retains individual charm and character. The cottages have shared large gardens with outside furniture and a BBQ is available for dining alfresco. There is plenty of space for the kids to play, as well as being a peaceful retreat where you can hideaway and read a book. The Grange Holiday Cottages are situated in Flamborough, on the east coast of Yorkshire, a perfect base to visit the east coast and to discover what Yorkshire has to offer. Although Flamborough is only a small resort compared to its neighbours, it has everything you need from local shops to restaurants and pubs, and a good old fish and chip shop. Just along the coast, visit RSPB Bempton Cliffs, where you can observe puffins and guillemots in their natural habitat. A popular destination where visitors come from overseas to see this magnificent display of over 200 thousand seabirds. The famous spa town of Bridlington is just 5 miles away. Bridlington is a traditional seaside resort providing that family fun holiday experience. From donkey rides to crab pools there is always something to do at Bridlington. The land train travels along the coast up to Sewerby, where you can visit the famous Sewerby Hall and Gardens. Stately homes are in abundance with Sledmere, Burton Agnes and Burton Constable close by. Explore the famous Yorkshire Belle boat that takes tourists along the coast and back again. For those looking for nightlife, there’s plenty to discover at Bridlington. The famous Spa Theatre provides some excellent shows throughout the year. Along the coast at Scarborough, you can discover the Stephen Joseph Theatre, which is known for its premieres of almost all of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. It also boasts the largest open air theatre in Europe. The Grange Holiday Cottages are a great base to explore the North Yorkshire Moors, The Wolds and even the city of York is only an hour away. About the local area

Part of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, the area around Bridlington and Hornsea is rich in areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bridlington is renowned for its award winning beaches. Hire a beach chalet and let the children enjoy the fun at Kiddies Corner, or take a trip on the Land Train to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

An impressive country house with acres of gardens to explore, Sewerby is also home to a small zoo where children are sure to delight in the popular Humboldt Penguins. Wet weather is never a problem, with plenty of amusement arcades along the seafront and Leisureworld, which boasts an indoor fun pool, complete with waves and waterslides.

Fourteen miles south of Bridlington is the little seaside town of Hornsea, housing a pottery museum and Bettison's Folly, a Grade II listed tower, while nearby Hornsea Mere offers sailing and fishing.

North of Bridlington is Flamborough Head, a chalk headland with the oldest lighthouse in Britain, which was built in 1674 but never used. There is also a newer, working lighthouse, where you can climb the 119 stairs and admire the extensive views. This is a Special Area of Conservation and a birdwatcher's paradise, with its regular visitors of gannets and puffins.

Danes Dyke at Flamborough is a massive flat topped bank and ditch that cuts through the headland. Believed to have been built as a defensive structure, it dates back to the iron age and is now a nature reserve, offering the visitor a series of walks and nature trails to explore.
