About the local area

Pickering is a great base from which to explore the delights of the moors coast and York. A day out on the North York Moors Railway from Pickering is a great way to explore the pretty villages in ’Heartbeat’ country, meandering through the heather clad moorland bound for the fishing port of Whitby. Pickering hosts a market on a Monday and has many shops, restaurants and tea rooms. Scarborough is a short drive away and has sandy beaches to enjoy along with amusements and the castle. The historic City of York can be easily accessed where you may discover the Viking past, ancient cobbled streets and the magnificent York Minster.
