Description

Bella Vista certainly lives up to its name, with wonderful views out to sea, and is accessed by a private road. To the rear of the property there’s a large conservatory which leads onto a well-kept enclosed garden where you can sit and enjoy the view. Bella Vista is a dormer bungalow with a twin bedroom on the ground floor and a double on the first floor with the advantage of a bathroom on each floor. It is a large and spacious property situated in a quiet area of Hunmanby Gap close to Filey. Just a short stroll and you are on the beach, where there is a small café that welcomes dogs and a fantastic large sandy beach. Just a few minutes’ drive and you can be in Filey town centre. Filey is a very traditional seaside resort, but has all the amenities you could wish for with restaurants, bars, supermarket and a train station.
Travelling north from Filey there are the resorts of Scarborough and Whitby. Scarborough has the brilliant Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of the world premiere plays of Sir Alan Ayckbourn. There is also the largest open air theatre in Europe which has some excellent shows throughout the year. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just along the clifftops where you will see thousands of migrating seabirds and the very popular puffins. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and you are ideally placed to see several of them. Sledmere House, Sewerby Hall, Burton Constable and Castle Howard are all just a short drive away. The city of York is within an hours’ drive from the property or can be reached by train. Every year York is voted within the top 10 cities in the UK to visit, so don’t miss out and take a look during your stay. Beach 300 yards. Shop 2 miles, pub 1 mile, restaurant 1½ miles.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake, where you can have a go on the amazing Water Walkers.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Children will enjoy a visit to Funland with its rides and arcades, perhaps followed by a visit to nearby Glen Gardens, which boasts a boating lake and children's play area.

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.
