Description

Birch Lodge is a beautiful, large, detached property situated in the Victorian town of Filey on the Yorkshire Coast. It is a perfect retreat for large parties or two families sharing, and provides an excellent standard of accommodation to all. Each room has been beautifully designed with tasteful décor and furnishings throughout and well equipped with TV’s and DVD’s in every bedroom. It is positioned set back from the road in a secluded position with a large gravel entrance that can accommodate up to eight cars. The beautiful, large enclosed garden at the rear of the property is ideal for relaxing with a glass of wine or dining al fresco. A 10 minute walk will bring you right into the heart of Filey, where you can enjoy the many amenities and activities it has to offer.

Filey has been a famous seaside resort since Victorian times offering visitors a friendly warm welcome. The five mile long blue flag beach boasts one of the best beaches in the country and also an unspoilt seafront with a few children’s rides, crazy golf, cafes, shops and an amusement arcade. The promenade is just perfect for an evening stroll with your dog or you can venture the cobbled streets that are lined with inns, tea rooms, restaurants and gift shops, where friendly locals wait to greet you. There are also many activities for all ages including swimming, sailing, surfing, pony rides and fishing trips. It is also ideal for keen walkers and cyclists with the famous Cleveland Way finishing/starting at Filey Brigg. Filey is in a perfect location as it situated centrally between the beautiful coastal resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington, which both provide a fun packed day out. Flamborough Head, just 15 miles away has many amazing places to visit from the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs, the stunning beaches at Thornwick bay, North Landing, Selwicks Bay, South Landing, Danes Dyke and Sewerby. Perched high on the cliffs above Bridlington Bay is Sewerby Hall and Gardens, which is a great place to visit. The picturesque village of Hunmanby is well worth a visit and only two miles.

Filey offers many amenities including shops, tea rooms and old inns serving local food, it is a famous sea-side resort that has a five mile long blue flag beach and is one of the best beaches in the country. There are also several golf courses close by including Ganton Golf course which is a famous championship course. This area is also ideal for keen walkers and cyclists with the famous Cleveland Way starting and finishing at Filey Brigg. Filey has been a seaside resort since Edwardian times and a fishing village for much longer. The beach is lined with a historical promenade from where the beauty of the dramatic Filey Brigg can be seen.

A family run attraction with lots to see and do. Lavender fields, nature walks, tea room and giftshop selling unique gifts.

Scarborough Castle

This 12th Century castle conceals over 2,500 years of turbulent history. It is said the King Richard III enjoyed the view from the battlements so much that he still walks them today! Specially constructed viewing platforms offer visitors wonderful views of the coastline and town.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

One of the country's most popular steam railways, covering 18 miles between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, travelling through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Stephen Joseph Theatre

The theatre has a national and international reputation and is home to Alan Ayckbourn, the world's most performed living playwright. A backstage tour lasting about 45 minutes can be booked by contacting them.
