About the local area

The coastal resort of Scarborough is only 7 miles away with plenty to do to entertain all the family including swimming, golfing, fishing, indoor go carting, bowling and cinemas and lots more. The Sea Life centre is a great family day out or you could take a trip out on one of the pleasure cruises, speed boats or fishing trips available. The open air theatre, which is the largest in Europe has some excellent events going on throughout the year. The market town of Pickering is situated just 5 miles in the opposite direction where you can enjoy a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam train that will take you to Whitby along the glorious Esk Valley stopping off at Goathland (otherwise known as Heartbeat Country) and then on the famous fishing town of Whitby, famous for its delicious Fish and Chips. Nearby Dalby forest has something to offer everyone all year round, including a number of waymarked walks, picnic areas and seasonal live bands. It is also the place to go for keen cyclists as it is one of the top premier mountain biking destinations.

Scarborough Castle

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

One of the country's most popular steam railways, covering 18 miles between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, travelling through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.
