Scalby itself has a selection of pubs and shops and is ideal for walkers and cycle enthusiasts with some excellent pathwas and cycle tracks direct from the door where you can appreciate the surrounding countryside. The historic town of Whitby is just 18 miles away where Bram Stoker was inspired to write the novel Dracula. and is also famous for it's fish and chips - claimed to be the 'best fish and chips in Britain' by Rick Stein, the famous sea food chef.
