There are numerous activities close by including, swimming, fishing, golf, tennis, badminton, go carting and lots more. Scalby itself has a selection of traditional pubs and shops within a few hundred yards. The historic fishing town of Whitby, famous for Dracula, with its cobble streets, stunning Abbey and Museum is well worth a visit, where you can take a boat trip down the harbour or walk along the 3 miles of golden sandy beach and you must sample the famous Fish and Chips. There are many pretty coastal resorts between Scarborough and Whitby including the beautiful unspoilt village of Robin Hoods Bay that nestles on the cliffs of the North York Moors National Park heritage coast and has a history of fishing and smuggling and is well worth a visit.
