Scalby itself is an idyllic, peaceful, countryside village with a good selection of pubs and shops, which makes Southdene a perfect place to stay to enjoy the peace and quiet yet just 4 miles away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside town of Scarborough. It is also ideal for walkers and cycle enthusiasts with some excellent pathways and cycle tracks close by. Scarborough has a lot to offer for all the family with numerous activities including golf, swimming, tennis, go carting, fishing just to include a few. The historic castle is well worth a visit, and if you fancy an evening stroll it has a beautiful promenade and beach. The kids can also enjoy the Sea Life centre and fair and amusements. The historic town of Whitby is just half an hour away where Bram Stoker was inspired to write the novel Dracula, and is also famous for its Fish and Chips, traditional tea rooms and quaint gift shops.
