The area is ideal for dog walkers and ramblers and you can join the 110 mile Cleveland Way just minutes away from the cottages, where you can walk along the cliff top, south to Scarborough or north to Whitby. There is also a disused railway line very close to the cottages that runs from Whitby to Scarborough that is safe for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Staintondale itself has a Shire Horse Centre where you can visit and enjoy the horse and pony shows in the arena. The sea side town of Scarborough is a great day out with a fun fair and amusements to occupy the kids and plenty of shops and pubs. There are also numerous activities including go carting, bowling and cinemas and many more. The historic fishing town of Whitby is only 11 miles away in the opposite direction where you can appreciate the stunning Abbey, quaint shops and tearooms and you must sample its famous Fish and Chips. There are a number of pretty villages dotted along this lovely coastline that are a must to visit including Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes.
