About the local area

The beautiful historic town of Whitby has plenty to offer adults and children with a large selection of pubs, quaint antique and gift shops, the famous fish and chip shops and three miles of golden sandy beach and amusements. You can take a trip on one of the fishing boats that will take you out and around the harbour where you can appreciate the views of St Mary's Church and the stunning Abbey that towers on the east side of the town. If you want to travel slightly further without taking the car and enjoy some breathtaking scenery you can take a trip on the Esk Valley train that takes you to Middlesbrough stopping at the pretty villages dotted along the North York Moors. The lovely coastal resorts of Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all within close proximity and are well worth a visit.
