Description

Blacksmith’s Cottage is a delightful, traditional cottage positioned in an ideal location in the quiet village of Hawsker, just a few miles outside of the hustle and bustle of Whitby but close enough to enjoy a leisurely walk, cycle or a 5 minute drive. Hawsker has a great family run pub that serves excellent home cooked meals and is only 50 yards from the cottage. The cottage was built in the 17th century and was part of the original blacksmith’s workshop that has been converted to a good standard of accommodation for couples and small families, looking to explore this beautiful coastline. The cottage is positioned in the grounds of the owners’ home, and has stunning gardens and pond at the rear with garden furniture, that are shared with Anvil Cottage, which can be booked together to accommodate two small families or a larger family of up to 8 people. A leather sofa bed in the lounge provides additional room for two extra guests.
For those wishing to take a break from driving, a frequent bus service runs to Whitby, Middlesborough, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough. The North York Moors National Park offers something for everyone with varied landscape such as heather clad moorland, sweeping dales and quaint villages, not to mention the beautiful heritage coastline just waiting to be discovered. The area is also ideal for walkers and cyclists with numerous walks and cycle tracks right on your doorstep including a disused railway line only 200 yards from the cottage that runs from Whitby to Scarborough ideal for cyclists of all ages and abilities and there is a cycle hire centre at the edge of the village.
