Description

Broom Cottage is a traditional, cosy ’Duck and Dive’ cottage, with lots of character and charm located in a tranquil location, yet within easy reach of all the amenities of the historic town of Whitby. The lovely garden is south facing and has a shared access with the cottage next door. You can enjoy the sun all day whilst relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine or dining alfresco. It is an ideal base for a couple with a small dog looking to explore this beautiful coastline or the North York Moors National Park areas.

About the local area

The area is a haven for keen ramblers and cyclists with many tracks and pathways close by including the famous 110 mile Cleveland Way that can be picked up on the cliff top in Whitby. The old railway line is located close to the cottage where you can cycle along a safe track on the cliff top whilst enjoying some spectacular scenery to the beautiful village of Robin Hoods Bay, 6 miles away or for keen cycle enthusiasts, Scarborough is another 15 miles further. There are many music festival weekends including the sixties weekend, soul weekend and Goth weekends, which attract many visitors all year round. Whitby is full of quaint gift and antique shops where you can buy the famous Whitby Jet jewellery. There are also some excellent award winning restaurants where you sample many mouth-watering fish dishes that Whitby is famous for. The lovely coastal resorts of Sandsend, Staithes and Runswick Bay are all within close proximity and are well worth a visit

One of the country's most popular steam railways, covering 18 miles between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, travelling through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Captain Cook Memorial Museum

Situated in the house by the harbour side where James Cook came to serve his apprenticeship in 1746. With period rooms as Cook knew them, original paintings, manuscripts, models and artefacts from his voyages.
