The cliffs above the village rise to Boulby which are the highest cliffs in England and to Saltburn side, there is a mile of secluded golden beach less than a five minute walk away that is a hidden gem and perfect for an early morning stroll or for walking the dog. Fosdyke Cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the pretty villages dotted along the North York Moors and the beautiful beach resorts situated along this stunning coastline. This area is also a haven for walkers and cyclists where you can access the famous 110 mile Cleveland Way literally a few hundred yards away from the cottage. The charming fishing village of Staithes is only 4 miles away and is one of the most photographed villages in Yorkshire and is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast. There is a good selection of pubs, shops, tea rooms and an Art Gallery. Saltburn is 6 miles away in the opposite direction and is a great day out for all the family to enjoy with its own cliff lift dating back to 1884 and famous Pier which is the most Northerly surviving British pier. The Smugglers Heritage Centre not far from the lovely promenade which is perfect for a leisurely stroll on a fine evening. There are lots of activities in Saltburn including surfing, fishing, golf and swimming. You can also enjoy horse riding by taking a trek across the beach The beautiful village of Runswick Bay is only another couple of miles down the coast and slightly further is the picturesque resort of Sandsend, which are both definitely worth a trip. The famous Captain Cook’s town of Whitby is only 15 miles away and is a perfect day out for families or couples looking to enjoy the ample restaurants with their awards for excellent cuisine or to sample the famous Fish and Chips.
