Attractions in this delightful town include Britain's only surviving gravity inclined tram way also the only surviving iron trestle and wooded decked pier on the North East coast, perfect for a spot of fishing. Take a ride on the miniature railway from the beach to the Valley gardens. The Cleveland way runs through the gardens then up to the cliffs and onto Filey. Saltburn also has a leisure centre, which offers swimming, badminton, tennis, cricket club and a range of other activities. Satlburn's 18 hole golf course attracts visitors from all over the region, or if you fancy surfing you will find a surfing school on the promenade. You may want to head to the town centre, where a good selection of shops and restaurants are available. From Saltburn, there are good transport links to the North Yorkshire Moors, often referred to as "Heartbeat Country" along with the coastal resorts of Staithes and Whitby, famed for their connections with Captain James Cook.
