From the cottage the neighbouring village of Reeth is very popular with day visitors and walkers with the Coast to Coast walk passing through the village. Set around a large village green, Reeth has a variety of craft work shops, the Swaledale Folk Museum and its own Tourist Information Centre. The bustling market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are easily accessible, each providing an excellent selection of shops and restaurants, and the historic City of York is within easy reach and well worthy of a days outing.
