Damson Cottage is nestled in the quiet, picturesque village of Holtby near York. Great care has been taken in its recent refurbishment to ensure a cosy welcoming feel. The spacious garden and paddock area is ideal for children with a football area, goats, pigs and hens from which you can enjoy fresh eggs. It is in a perfect location for exploring the historic city of York with its stunning Minster, cobbled streets and excellent shops and also the beautiful surrounding villages along the North York Moors.

About the local area
Holtby village itself is steeped in history and untouched by developers. The Scandinavian origin of the name (Holt by means coppice village), which indicates that the Vikings were once here. The Yorvic way, which is a 65 mile recreational pathway, skirts the village and there is an abundance of cycle paths and country lanes right on your doorstep. It is also ideal for visiting a choice of stately homes in the area including the famous Castle Howard which has a major new exhibition "Brideshead Restored" exploring the recently filmed Brideshead Revisited and has stunning gardens, farm shop, a new paly area and an Arboretum which makes this a full day out and definitely worth a visit
