Magnificent scenery in countryside of unrivalled beauty and varied heritage awaits you. The Wolds are an outstanding and unspoilt holiday destination to which visitors return year after year.
The Yorkshire Wolds are a series of gently undulating hills and valleys, south of the North York Moors and stretching in an arc from the city of Hull and the market town of Beverley to the coastal resorts of Filey and Bridlington on the Yorkshire coast. Whether you want to get away from it all or discover fascinating local culture and heritage, you can be sure of experiencing a visit to remember. The Wolds have countless villages, with characterful inns and fine churches. For a glimpse of the grand lifestyle of landowners in times past, visit Burton Agnes and Burton Constable, both outstanding Elizabethan country houses, and the Georgian Sledmere House and Sewerby Hall.
For keen walkers The Yorkshire Wolds National Trail is a must. The path winds through 80 miles of some of the most tranquil and gentle countryside in England. From the banks of the mighty Humber estuary, along wooded slopes and through serene dry valleys, the walk climbs gently onto the airy tops of the rolling hills where on a clear day "you can see forever". Descending from the northern escarpment the final section of the Way finishes on the dramatic headland of Filey Brigg.
A visit to Hull is a treat - East Yorkshire’s cosmopolitan waterfront hub with a rich maritime history, where there is a vibrant blend of culture, theatre, nightlife, shopping and events from jazz festivals to sea shanties.
