The beautiful city of York is half an hour away and is an amazing city to visit with its stunning Minster, cobbled streets with quaint shops and tearooms. The Jorvik Viking Museum and National Railway museum are also worth visiting or if you just want some retail therapy it is a great place for shopping. Bridlington is just over half an hour in the opposite direction and is also a great day out with its beautiful harbour with two lovely sandy beaches on each side, where you can sail on "The Yorkshire Belle" pleasure cruiser that offers a 1 hour cruise along the coast. Perched high on the cliffs above Bridlington Bay is Sewerby Hall and Gardens set in 50 acres of spectacular gardens and parkland. Skipsea is also close by and is located between the historic town of Beverley and Bridlington, where you can enjoy a lovely beach which is easily accessible and provides opportunities for watersports. Close to Skipsea is Flamborough Head with the oldest surviving lighthouse in England, built in 1674. The chalk headland is ideal for walks in this Special Area of Conservation and it is a popular breeding area for gannets and puffins.
