In a peaceful and quiet corner of the picturesque village of Reeth and surrounded by the spectacular unspoilt countryside of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale, this superb cottage provides very comfortable accommodation in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. It is beautifully presented and furnished with care and attention to detail with lovely views all around. There is an attractive lawned garden for relaxing on warm summer days with an abundance of flowers and shrubs.
This holiday home was once home to Nurse Cherry (hence the name), who was a well-loved nurse/midwife in Reeth. The cottage was built in what remained of Nurse Cherry’s back garden/orchard and there are still a couple of apple trees that remain in the garden that were once park of the orchard. Guests can even visit the bench that has been left in her memory on Reeth Green. There is also a trophy in her name for the Under 5’s Fancy Dress competition at the annual Reeth Show on August bank holiday. The owner of the property has created a charitable opportunity that guests can join in on, if they wish. Guest can contribute to the ‘guests community’ scarf knitting project – this is where you help knit part of a scarf (whether it be a couple of lines, or a few inches), which will go to benefit a children’s charity, as Nurse Cherry loved children.
Set within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and just a few minutes’ walk from the village amenities it is ideal for walking across the hills and fells, together with lovely riverside and country walks. Reeth has good quality inns, tearooms, everyday shopping, Folk Museum and Craft Centre and the large village green is the focal point of many popular local events throughout the year. The market towns of Richmond, Leyburn and Hawes, the stunning Aysgarth Falls, Castle Bolton and the Buttertubs Pass are a short drive away. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 250 yards.
