The picture postcard town of Hawes is also home of some of the most delicious cheeses to be made in Britain which can be experienced at the Wensleydale Creamery and the ancient art of rope making, a craft which has been passed down from generation to generation and still draws visitors from all over the world. The Dales Countryside Museum tells the story of the area past and present in the nearby old station building and is an interactive attraction which is ideal for children. Hawes had a variety of pubs and restaurants to discover, along with the Tuesday market which is certainly worthy of a visit. Cattlemarket Cottage is also an ideal base for walkers wishing to discover the abundance of footpath walks and hikes in the area.
