Middleham is a popular village with its historic castle ruins, once home to Richard III, and its horse racing connections with the horses passing the cottage on their way up to "the gallops" for their morning exercise. The village has a small grocery shop and several good pubs serving food and is the ideal spot to base yourself in order to discover the area. The bustling market town of Leyburn is nearby offering restaurants, tea rooms and shops, not to mention a chocolate factory and Wensleydale Railway line. The Forbidden Corner, an unusual attraction incorporating follies, mazes and acres of parkland is not to be missed and is a short drive from the cottage. Ideally situated for those who enjoy walking, fishing, mountain biking with an abundance of footpath walks in the area across the stunning scenery.

Lovely cottage on the edge of the village, close to the hills, racehorse training track and Middleham castle. Lovely history books in cottage, plenty of radiators for warmth, excellent cooking facilities and great choice of pubs for occasional meals out.

Very pleasant and comfortable, particularly appreciated the electric blanket for this time of the year! Would definitely stay again in the summer.
