Gayle is a picturesque village approximately 3/4 mile from the bustling market town of Hawes on the Western edge of Upper Wensleydale with Duerley Beck passing through with access over an old and narrow bridge, or by crossing the ford. Ducks, geese and many wildfowl are often spotted waddling across the waters! From these waters Gayle Force and Aisgill waterfalls are evident.
Neighbouring Hawes is a bustling market town hosting a good selection of shops, pubs and tea rooms, along with antiques and giftware. Hawes is home to the Wensleydale Cheese which is produced at the local creamery where guests are invited to view the process and visit the tea rooms. The Dales Countryside Museum is worth a visit too, along with local craft workshops where local tradesmen display their skills of rope making and pottery.

We have stayed in a number of cottages with a number of companies over the years and this rates as one of, if not the, best. The level of cleanliness was excellent, even under the furniture, and the facilities very good.
Lovely place to stay.
A joy to stay in.
