Askrigg is located in the heart of Wensleydale and is well known for its connections with the vet James Herriot. The village was used extensively for the filming of All Creatures Great and Small and a number of the buildings can still be seen including the original "Drovers" pub (The Kings Arms Hotel). Askrigg also boasts a village store, pubs, restaurant and delicatessens as well as a beautiful church.
Nestling in Upper Wensleydale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the village enjoys a central location for exploring, with easy access into neighbouring Swaledale. Excellent walking and hiking is available direct from the door, or for those who enjoy shopping, the bustling market towns of Leyburn and Hawes are within easy reach.
