Grassington

Grassington makes its home in an area that is dense with interesting sights and while some will choose to head deeper into Wharfedale, there is plenty to keep you occupied in this scenic town.

One of Grassington's best aspects is its wide variety of local retailers, most of which cluster around the marketplace, which is quaintly cobbled and suitably attractive. You can spend an afternoon browsing for trinkets and souvenirs to give to your loved ones after you return, or simply sit in a cafe and watch the world glide by.

When Christmas comes around, the annual Dickensian Festival is held in Grassington, with events and activities for the whole family. A farmer's market regularly visits each month and there is a Festival of Music & Arts at the end of June each year, which means there is rarely a dull day here.

Grassington is just a short trip from the famous Stump Cross Caverns. Here you can venture beneath the ground and embark upon a subterranean adventure in which stalagmites and stalactites will criss cross your path in caves that were formed a million years ago. After escaping from the depths there is also a cafe and a gift shop to help you remember your visit.
