Situated in the valley of Wharfedale Kettlewell lies in the shadow of Great Whernside, surrounded by limestone terraces. It is a popular starting point for riverside and high fell walks, while nearby Kilnsey Crag is a spectacular rock formation that is a regular haunt for ardent climbers.
The village itself has various good pubs on either side of the small beck that divides the village. There is also a post office, local store and an outdoor gear shop.
This is THE place to start numerous walks. Stroll along the valley floor to either Grassington or Buckden. Test your fitness by climbing Great Whernside and Buckden Pike. Or perhaps you'd fancy visiting the neighbouring valley over the way at Arncliff.
Back in the village visit the beautiful church have a cup of coffee and piece of cake in the local tea room or enjoy a picnic by the riverside whilst the children play by the stepping stones.
