With its quaint cobbled streets and picturesque houses standing on the steep slopes of the River Esk, Whitby is a lovely traditional seaside resort offering some great places to visit. It is situated 47 miles from York and stretches along one of Britain's finest coastline.

There are many attractions to be enjoyed including the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, the 13th Century Abbey, Whitby Museum, St Mary's Church and the Bram Stoker Dracula Experience. Those looking to do a bit of shopping head down the 199 steps from the Abbey to the old town where you will find an array of unique shops offering local crafts, famous Whitby Jet jewellery, maritime memorabilia and antiques.

Enjoy some award winning seafood restaurants and traditional sea-shanty inns serving locally cooked produce. Try Duke of York pub at the foot of the abbey which serves a selection of beers and bar meals.

Close by the North York Moors National Park covered by heather moorlands provides a great place for walkers and mountain bikers. Wonder along the River Esk running from the moors along Eskdale and through Whitby to the North Sea.
