llkley has been a popular destination for generations of climbers. It is one the of the best and most popular gritstone areas in the north with over 200 climbs of all grades. There are several areas all within a short stroll from the town centre. The natural crag on the moor is called the Cow and Calf, a sandstone quarry to the left with some good crack climbs, and half a mile to the west are the Rocky Valley Crags.
The views from the moor are fabulous and the Cow and Calf Hotel just five minutes from the rock formations means you can enjoy a traditional pub meal after a tough climb. The town its self is also worthy of a visit with lots of independent gift shops, restaurants and the famous Betty's Tea Room.
