It's so easy to combine a great holiday in Yorkshire with great water sports; whether you fancy a little sailing, canoeing or even surfing, you'll find it all in Yorkshire.

There are plenty of lakes and reservoirs, many set high up in the hills which are ideal venues for dinghy sailing. Enjoy lots of windy days sailing with a marvelous backdrop of stunning scenery all around you and it's easy to find sailing clubs which will welcome beginners and experts alike.

If you really want to get the wind in your hair why not consider going off-shore. Off-shore sailing is available at several locations along Yorkshire's extensive coastline, but be sure to check out the weather conditions from H.M. Coastguard first!

The North Yorkshire coastline also has some superb surf beaches that cater for both beginners and more advanced surfers and you can book lessons if starting out or need to brush up your skills. There are particularly good stretches of coastline for surfing around the Scarborough area and Cayton Bay.

Yorkshire abounds with rivers suitable for canoeing, in particular the River Wharfe and the Washburn are ideal for this activity, but as canoeing is only open at certain times of the year it's best checking first on the British Canoe Union Yorkshire site for more information.

Sea kayaking is available along Yorkshire's coastline, which is a great way to enjoy some superb coastal scenery from the sea; it's also the perfect way to check out the rich and varied marine wildlife with an abundance of sea birds, seals and maybe the odd dolphin!

You can be sure to find the ideal property close to your favorite water sports venue, whether it's our cottages by the sea or in fact any accommodation ideally placed for any water sports; on the coast or inland!
