Description

Bumblebee Cottage is an exceptional property of very high standards situated between Skipsea and Hornsea. What the property has is lots of space with a wonderful, large (22ft x 15ft) living room boasting its own wood burner for those cosy evenings in and high vaulted ceilings which add to its sense of space. Patio doors lead out to the patio with a hot tub where you can enjoy the bubbles whilst gazing up at the stars. A steam room in the main house is also an added bonus. The owner, who lives adjacent, has also thought about making children feel welcomed with a games room comprising air hockey, table tennis, a Wii console, TV and retro arcade game guaranteed to keep them entertained for hours.

From the property you can walk to Skipsea beach where visitors have public access to the beach and golf course (all year), as well the golf bar/restaurant/shop (seasonal) at Far Grange Caravan Park. The advantage of Bumblebee Cottage is it’s central for exploring the area as a whole. The traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington and Hornsea are close by. Have a go at bird watching or sailing at Hornsea Mere or try a bit of retail therapy at Hornsea Freeport designer outlet. The town of Hornsea is full of little street cafes, public parks, restaurants and shops. It also has its own museum dedicated to the famous Hornsea Pottery. Hornsea is also the finishing point for the Trans Pennine Way. You can walk or cycle along these well maintained leisure trails. Skipsea is your nearest village with its local pub serving bar meals and the village shop/post office. Further afield and in less than an hour you can be in York or the city of Hull voted European City of Culture for 2017. Hull has one of the largest indoor aquariums in the UK known as ’The Deep’, see the sharks and stingrays as well as the stunning colours of the small, less known varieties. Beach 800 yards. Shop and pub 1½ miles, restaurant 4 miles.
Bumblebee Cottage can be booked together with The Hive (UK2291) and The Honeypot (UK2292) to accommodate up to 13 guests.

About the local area

Part of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, the area around Bridlington and Hornsea is rich in areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bridlington is renowned for its award winning beaches. Hire a beach chalet and let the children enjoy the fun at Kiddies Corner, or take a trip on the Land Train to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

An impressive country house with acres of gardens to explore, Sewerby is also home to a small zoo where children are sure to delight in the popular Humboldt Penguins. Wet weather is never a problem, with plenty of amusement arcades along the seafront and Leisureworld, which boasts an indoor fun pool, complete with waves and waterslides.

Fourteen miles south of Bridlington is the little seaside town of Hornsea, housing a pottery museum and Bettison's Folly, a Grade II listed tower, while nearby Hornsea Mere offers sailing and fishing.

North of Bridlington is Flamborough Head, a chalk headland with the oldest lighthouse in Britain, which was built in 1674 but never used. There is also a newer, working lighthouse, where you can climb the 119 stairs and admire the extensive views. This is a Special Area of Conservation and a birdwatcher's paradise, with its regular visitors of gannets and puffins.

Danes Dyke at Flamborough is a massive flat topped bank and ditch that cuts through the headland. Believed to have been built as a defensive structure, it dates back to the iron age and is now a nature reserve, offering the visitor a series of walks and nature trails to explore.
