Set within the grounds of Bridlington Links golf course, this is a lovely, luxury spacious lodge with open views across the holiday park. The light open plan living area has lots of windows giving that feeling of space. Furnished to a very high standard, the owner has thought of everything. There are even two golf passes provided, free of charge, and an annual family pass for up to two adults and two children to visit the Sewerby Hall and Gardens which you can walk to through the pathways on the complex. There is a number of similar lodges on-site, an 18-hole golf course and a 9-hole golf course, as well as a driving range, which have beautiful sea views. Guests must have a handicap to use the 18-hole course. The clubhouse which serves drinks and great food, also boasts a large terraced area overlooking the sea.

Bridlington town centre is 3 miles away, or you can catch the land train from Sewerby Hall. This is a very traditional seaside resort with a busy working harbour. There is a fantastic leisure centre with a swimming pool and climbing walls, and plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. For evening entertainment, Bridlington Spa holds some excellent international shows.

Alternatively, take a gentle stroll along the cliff tops. In the opposite direction, there is Danes Dyke Nature Reserve and the village of Flamborough Head. Walks along this coastline are some of the best you will see. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is home to the migrating puffins. Stand on the clifftop viewing platforms to get a close up of them.

Along the coast are the seaside resorts of Filey and Scarborough, again well worth visiting as they boast some of the best beaches in the UK. Beach 1½ miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 400 yards.

About the local area

Part of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, the area around Bridlington and Hornsea is rich in areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bridlington is renowned for its award winning beaches. Hire a beach chalet and let the children enjoy the fun at Kiddies Corner, or take a trip on the Land Train to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

An impressive country house with acres of gardens to explore, Sewerby is also home to a small zoo where children are sure to delight in the popular Humboldt Penguins. Wet weather is never a problem, with plenty of amusement arcades along the seafront and Leisureworld, which boasts an indoor fun pool, complete with waves and waterslides.

Fourteen miles south of Bridlington is the little seaside town of Hornsea, housing a pottery museum and Bettison's Folly, a Grade II listed tower, while nearby Hornsea Mere offers sailing and fishing.

North of Bridlington is Flamborough Head, a chalk headland with the oldest lighthouse in Britain, which was built in 1674 but never used. There is also a newer, working lighthouse, where you can climb the 119 stairs and admire the extensive views. This is a Special Area of Conservation and a birdwatcher's paradise, with its regular visitors of gannets and puffins.

Danes Dyke at Flamborough is a massive flat topped bank and ditch that cuts through the headland. Believed to have been built as a defensive structure, it dates back to the iron age and is now a nature reserve, offering the visitor a series of walks and nature trails to explore.
