Description

Lobster Pot Cottage is one of the original fisherman’s cottages in the ’Old Town’ of Scarborough where the streets are steeped in history. The seafaring community all lived in this area with its little streets and alleyways that all lead down to the seafront.
The cottage has been tastefully renovated to provide a very good standard of holiday accommodation, perfect for a family holiday. There is a small terraced area with seating to the rear of the property, ideal for a picnic tea after a day on the beach. It is also enclosed so perfect if you have brought your four-legged friend. It is superbly situated as both South Bay and North Bay are easily accessible and it’s just a few minutes walk to reach either beach. There’s a long Marine Drive that runs along the seafront which makes for a lovely stroll looking out to sea.
Scarborough is a traditional seaside town with lots of attractions for all age groups. The children have two fantastic beaches to play on with donkeys, sandcastles, ice creams and candy floss in abundance. There is also the Sealife Centre, Peasholm Park and the Alpamare UK waterpark all close by. The waterpark has a fantastic infinity pool along with lots of slides, water chutes and a great wave machine. The Dalby Forest, home to a World Cup XC mountain bike trail, is a great place to go with the bikes and try out all of their trails, or have a go at ’Go Ape’, the high ropes activity adventure park above the trees of the forest. For the adults there are plenty of bars, restaurants and traditional pubs near to the cottage. The indoor market has plenty of interesting eateries as well as the traditional market stalls. On the lower floor in the vaults of the building, there are lots of interesting shops with antiques and book shops.
The seaside resorts of Whitby, Flamborough Head and Filey are all accessible within a short car drive. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is further down the coast where you can see the migrating seabirds and watch the comical puffins. Lobster Pot cottage is perfectly situated as a base to visit the North York Moors National Park, the East Coast and the Yorkshire Wolds. Beach 600 yards. Shop and restaurant 500 yards, pub 200 yards.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Kids will love visiting the Alpamare waterpark for all kinds of aquatic fun, with slides, waves and much more to enjoy.

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.
