These two delightful, semi-detached cottages are situated in the pretty village of Staxton, just 7 miles from the sea-side resort of Scarborough. The cottages are well-equipped and spacious with an abundance of character and charm making them a perfect stay for couples and families. The cottages sleep five guests in each or they can be booked together for larger families or friends sharing. The enclosed terraced areas supplied with furniture are an ideal place for relaxing with a glass of wine whilst enjoying the surrounding views of open countryside. These cottages are positioned in an ideal central location for either exploring the coastal resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, to the East, and also the market towns of Pickering and Helmsley to the West, which are all within easy reach and all beautiful places to visit.

About the local area

Staxton has a local butchers and pub whilst Ganton which is only a couple of miles away has its own famous Golf Course that ranks among the very best of Britain’s inland courses. It has played host to many Amateur and Professional tournaments, so an ideal opportunity for a golfing day out. The area is also ideal for keen ramblers and cyclists with the Wolds Way running through the village or you can enjoy walking in the North York Moor National Park areas and Dalby forest which are just a short drive away. Scarborough is a great day out for all the family with plenty going on all year round including an open air theatre that plays host to some big named bands and a lovely beach and promenade with a fun-fair and amusements. There is also a great selection of shops, tea-rooms, inns and restaurants. The beautiful historic City of York is less than an hour away and well worth visiting with its stunning Minster, cobbled streets and museums. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam train from Pickering to Whitby is a must for everyone. It travels along the stunning Esk Valley line stopping at Grosmont and Goathland (Heartbeat Country) and ends up at the quaint fishing town of Whitby famous for its Fish and Chips.

Filey has been a seaside resort since Edwardian times and a fishing village for much longer. The beach is lined with a historical promenade from where the beauty of the dramatic Filey Brigg can be seen.

Scarborough Castle

This 12th Century castle conceals over 2,500 years of turbulent history. It is said the King Richard III enjoyed the view from the battlements so much that he still walks them today! Specially constructed viewing platforms offer visitors wonderful views of the coastline and town.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

One of the country's most popular steam railways, covering 18 miles between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, travelling through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Stephen Joseph Theatre

The theatre has a national and international reputation and is home to Alan Ayckbourn, the world's most performed living playwright. A backstage tour lasting about 45 minutes can be booked by contacting them.
