Description

This traditional detached, spacious and well-equipped farmhouse is situated close to the beach at Reighton Sands, making it the perfect spot for that family seaside holiday. Sleeping 12 and with its large farmhouse kitchen, it makes it a great social area. Some parts of the house date back to 1740 so it’s full of character and history having been renovated to a good standard. For those of you with children and pets, the garden is large and enclosed, with plenty of space for them to play. A short walk down the path brings you to Reighton Sands with its long sandy beach. Moor Farm is a perfect base for exploring the East coast from Whitby down to Scarborough, Filey and not forgetting the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and within a short drive, guests can visit Sledmere House, Sewerby Hall and Burton Agnes Hall. From the market town of Pickering, guests can board the steam train which goes right over the North Yorkshire Moors to Whitby, but remember to stop off at Goathland, home to the TV programme ’Heartbeat’. The cities of York and Hull are easily accessible by car making Moor Farm a great base to stay.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Kids will love visiting the Alpamare waterpark for all kinds of aquatic fun, with slides, waves and much more to enjoy.

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.
