Description

Newlands Farm House is a truly splendid farmhouse, offering a well thought-out layout that is tastefully decorated and furnished to a good standard. Views across the countryside, the coastline and Scarborough Castle can be enjoyed from a number of rooms. Outside there is a barbecue and private hot tub for up to six people.

Thoughtfully furnished with lovely décor, wooden floors and underfloor heating. The ground floor enjoys a well-equipped, traditional farm house kitchen/dining room with slate floor. There is also a utility area with washing machine and dryer, plus a wet room. The living room offers seating for nine guests and a wood burner. There is a snug area with flat screen TV and DVD player. Head upstairs to the first floor and there are two double bedrooms with zip and link beds one with en-suite shower room and a small twin bedroom. On the second floor is a fabulous family bedroom with exposed beams, kingsize bed plus a day bed and an en-suite bathroom.

A short drive presents you with the wealth of amenities and activities of Scarborough, offering traditional seaside entertainment as well as a Sea Life Sanctuary, the Alpamare Waterpark and a golf course. Nearby are other popular tourist destinations such as Whitby, Pickering and the astounding city of York. The North York Moors National Park is a haven for lovers of nature and scenery.

On hand is the useful facility of a drying room with private lockers for airing swimming costumes and beach towels, plus a dog shower for washing salt and sand off your pet’s coat. Why not bring your bike, which can be kept in the dedicated bike store and maintenance facility.

The on-site farm shop is wonderful and sells quality local produce from cheeses and bread, to deli and savoury snacks, as well as lovely gifts and a café to enjoy scones with cream, or bacon sandwiches for breakfast that can be delivered to your cottage! Beach 1 mile. Shop on-site, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Kids will love visiting the Alpamare waterpark for all kinds of aquatic fun, with slides, waves and much more to enjoy. 

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.

Filey has been a seaside resort since Edwardian times and a fishing village for much longer. The beach is lined with a historical promenade from where the beauty of the dramatic Filey Brigg can be seen.

Wolds Way Lavender

A family run attraction with lots to see and do. Lavender fields, nature walks, tea room and giftshop selling unique gifts.

Scarborough Castle

This 12th Century castle conceals over 2,500 years of turbulent history. It is said the King Richard III enjoyed the view from the battlements so much that he still walks them today! Specially constructed viewing platforms offer visitors wonderful views of the coastline and town.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

One of the country's most popular steam railways, covering 18 miles between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, travelling through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Stephen Joseph Theatre

The theatre has a national and international reputation and is home to Alan Ayckbourn, the world's most performed living playwright. A backstage tour lasting about 45 minutes can be booked by contacting them.
