Description

Say Shells is a mid terraced cottage which sits on a quiet side street in the heart of the bustling seaside town of Filey on the East Riding coastline. If you are looking for a seaside short break or longer holiday with family and friends, then this cottage is the one for you.
Step inside and Say Shells has a lovely and welcoming feel to it. The cosy sitting room is at the front of the property and offers a large deep filled sofa and a selection of armchairs; here you can enjoy a night in front of the fire watching your favourite holiday movie. French doors open into a spacious dining room which offers plenty of seating for four. Look through the internal window and see how bright and airy the newly installed kitchen is. Retreat upstairs and there are two well-appointed bedrooms offering a mixture of double and super kingsize zip and link options. The house bathroom has real character and offers a bath with a shower over, however, the sloping ceiling does mean there is a height limitation with the shower!

Head out for the day and Filey is just on the doorstep. There is a rich selection of shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants as well as a choice of supermarkets, bakeries and butchers. You will also find shops selling traditional holiday trinkets down towards the beach. In under five minutes you will find yourself down on the golden sands. Here you can walk for miles or simply lay out a rug and soak up the sun’s rays.
A little further afield is the beautiful Yorkshire countryside including the unspoilt Yorkshire Wolds. Should you bring your bikes to enjoy a holiday on two wheels; Say Shells provides a bike store. Why not enjoy a day exploring some of the county’s grand houses; Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and Castle Howard should not be missed.
The seaside towns of Scarborough, Bridlington and Hornsea are also within reach and a little further afield inland is the beautiful historic City of York and the market towns of Beverley and Pocklington. There are also some great golf courses close by. Say Shells offers a haven to return to on an evening after enjoying this beautiful part of the East Riding.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Kids will love visiting the Alpamare waterpark for all kinds of aquatic fun, with slides, waves and much more to enjoy.

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.
