Everything is on your doorstep at Tahuti Mai. This beautiful characterful semi-detached cottage sits just minutes from Peasholm Park, and the beautiful sandy beaches of the North Bay and is perfect for families. There is a lovely enclosed courtyard garden with a pagoda and seating for al fresco dining and a barbecue. There is also a bike shed for bicycle storage, or surf boards. Tahuti Mai, which is Maori for “Welcome”, is set just yards from all the local attractions and amenities that Scarborough has to offer. Good restaurants, cafés and bars and a good fish and chip shop in town are all right on your doorstep.
Peasholm Park is just around the corner from Tahuti Mai, with leisurely walks in the beautiful gardens and around the lake. A miniature sea battle is re-enacted on the lake throughout the summer with model battleships to entertain the children. You can hire pedalos and rowing boats, as well as the use of the wonderful grounds for traditional picnics. Visit the largest outdoor theatre in Europe right next door, where many international artists play throughout the summer. Also, down at South Cliff is the Spa Complex with shows and outdoor entertainment throughout the year, and the SJT Theatre with a variety of shows, all worth a visit. The Alpamare Water Park is just a short stroll away, for hours of fun in the heated pools, flumes, water slides and wave machine. Scarborough’s famous county cricket ground is just around the corner for all of you cricket fans, and of course, there is always golf, with Scarborough’s fabulous course for those of you that like to play a round or two. The Sea-life centre, Scalby Mill and miniature golf are all waiting for you to enjoy. There are good local shops all within easy access, not to mention the easy walk into the town centre for all your shopping needs. The harbour with lots of attractions including boat trips, fun fair and arcades are all within easy reach, or take the open-top bus along Marine Drive that connects the two Bays with Scarborough Castle in between.
The resorts of Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey and Flamborough Head are all just a short drive away. Bempton Cliffs, home to the RSPB bird sanctuary, is also worth a visit. Here you will find thousands of migrating seabirds perched on the clifftops. The cliffs are famous for the puffins and people travel from worldwide to visit this site. The medieval city of York is less than an hour away by car, or you can catch the train direct from Scarborough. Its magnificent minster stands proudly above the city and you can walk the encircling walls. There are plenty of museums, theatres, street entertainers as well as tourist boats that take you for leisurely rides along the river.
