Description

Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds, on a working farm, on the outskirts of the village of Burton Fleming, this contemporary shepherd’s hut has been beautifully furnished inside and out to provide couples with an idyllic holiday residence. With Blue Texel’s heart-warming wood burner, there’s a cosy ambience regardless of the time of year, but the real treasure to this hut is its location – just 5 miles to the beach, Scarborough and the North York Moors National Park to the north, the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the historic city of York to the west, there’s a wealth of attractions and activities to try in the area. A welcome addition to our luxury accommodation has been the ’Lambing Shed’, a large and airy rustic kitchen/dining room. Your home away from home, it provides everything you could need to enhance your stay and is stocked daily with your inclusive continental breakfast, but has all the facilities for you to cook a ’full English’. Just let us know you want to upgrade your breakfast, (at an additional cost), and we’ll have all the ingredients ready for you. The hand built kitchen is fitted with a tumble dryer, two fridges and a cooking range for you to prepare the perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner. For the budding master chefs, we have an outdoor pizza oven to cook their fabulous creations in and wow fellow diners. The dining area has a large table and benches covered in soft, luxurious fleeces for your comfort, and should you forget any essentials, our new ’corner shop’ has basics and treats to buy, saving you a trip out to the shops.
For art enthusiasts, the Yorkshire Wolds are the inspiration behind some of David Hockney’s most-loved artwork, and if you’d like to try it yourself, the dramatic Yorkshire coastline would make for a fantastic painting, so be sure to bring your own canvas and brushes. The North York Moors is a walker’s delight, and even cyclists are catered for with the on-site bike store.

At the end of the day, there’s nothing like returning to a crackling fire and a glass of wine, or better yet, a dip in the hot tub! The owners, who live adjacent, are happy to provide a free continental breakfast during your stay. Beach 5 miles. Shop on-site, pub ¼ mile, restaurant 4 miles. The Blue Texel can be booked together with The Lincoln Longwool (UK2065) and The Swaledale (UK2067) to accommodate up to 6 guests.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Kids will love visiting the Alpamare waterpark for all kinds of aquatic fun, with slides, waves and much more to enjoy.

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.
