The Boat House is a delightful, modern property situated just a stones’ throw away from the sea front of the Victorian town of Filey. Formerly a stable , the owners have taken a lot of time and a great deal of effort to renovate this property from scratch into a unique, beautiful property. The large amount of windows and doors in the open plan lounge, kitchen, diner giving it an abundance of light and create a spacious, airy feel. The high quality decor and furnishings have been tastefully done and the fixtures and fittings have been finished off to a high specification. The large double room has a Juliet balcony where you can look out onto the enclosed patio area below which is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. The Boat House is a great base for families and couples looking to explore the stunning Yorkshire Coast and areas. For larger families, or friends and families sharing, you can also book The Old Stables (CC244055) which is next door and can sleep 6/8 additional people. Filey and all its amenities can be accessed just 1/4 mile from the property and has been a famous sea side resort since Victorian times offering visitors a friendly warm welcome.

About the local area

There are also many activities for all ages to enjoy including swimming, sailing, surfing, pony rides and fishing trips. Ganton Golf Course which is a famous championship Golf Course is located nearby and there are several other golf courses in the area. It is also ideal for keen walkers and cyclists with the famous Cleveland Way finishing/starting at Filey Brigg. The 5 mile long blue flag beach boasts one of the best beaches in the country and also an unspoilt seafront with a few children’s rides, crazy golf, cafes, shops and an amusement arcade. The promenade is just perfect for an evening stroll with your dog or you can venture the cobbled streets that are lined with inns, tea rooms, restaurants and gift shops, where friendly locals wait to greet you. Filey is in a perfect location as it is situated centrally between the beautiful coastal resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington, which both provide a fun packed day out. Flamborough Head, just 15 miles away has many amazing places to visit from the RSBP reserve at Bempton Cliffs, the stunning beaches at Thornwick Bay, North Landing, Selwicks Bay, South Landing, Danes Dyke and Sewerby. Perched high on the cliffs above Bridlington Bay is Sewerby Hall and Gardens, which is a great place to visit. The picturesque village of Hunmanby is well worth a visit and only 2 miles.

Filey Beach

Filey has been a seaside resort since Edwardian times and a fishing village for much longer. The beach is lined with a historical promenade from where the beauty of the dramatic Filey Brigg can be seen.

Wolds Way Lavender

A family run attraction with lots to see and do. Lavender fields, nature walks, tea room and giftshop selling unique gifts.

Scarborough Castle

This 12th Century castle conceals over 2,500 years of turbulent history. It is said the King Richard III enjoyed the view from the battlements so much that he still walks them today! Specially constructed viewing platforms offer visitors wonderful views of the coastline and town.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

One of the country's most popular steam railways, covering 18 miles between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, travelling through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Stephen Joseph Theatre

The theatre has a national and international reputation and is home to Alan Ayckbourn, the world's most performed living playwright. A backstage tour lasting about 45 minutes can be booked by contacting them.
