Description

This elegant and spacious ground floor apartment, with an additional bathroom on the lower ground floor, lies in a traditional Victorian building on the sought after Crescent above Filey Bay. Stylishly furnished with great attention to detail, it also has its own parking space. The apartment catches the sun from first thing in the morning right through to late afternoon, making the bay window a lovely place where you can sit and watch the world go by, or just read a book. Set in a quiet area, the apartment is close to the beach and is a short stroll from the quaint old fishing town of Filey with its array of restaurants, cafés and shops. Filey is well known for its stunning sandy beach, perfect for a long walk along the sands. For more serious walkers, Filey is the end of the Cleveland Way Trail and the walk along the clifftops is spectacular. It is well worth doing at least part of the walk to Scarborough, the nearest large seaside resort, with its two quite distinctive bays. The North Bay is the quieter of the two, whilst the South Bay has all the traditional seaside family treats, donkeys, amusements and sticks of rock! Flamborough Head and RSPB Bempton Cliffs are just 15 minutes’ drive away where guests can see puffins, gannets, seals and dolphins in their natural habitat. Yorkshire boasts several stately homes and Sledmere House, Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall and the wonderful Castle Howard are all within a short drive. The medieval city of York is just an hour away - a visit to this beautiful city is a must. With independent shops, market stalls, street entertainers and cosmopolitan cafés, York is one of the most visited cities in the UK. Beach 300 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Kids will love visiting the Alpamare waterpark for all kinds of aquatic fun, with slides, waves and much more to enjoy.

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.
