Description

Folkton Cottages are situated in the small village of Folkton just inland between the coastal resorts of Scarborough and Filey. All three properties are situated in a peaceful setting, with easy access on to the Wolds Way for walking and cycling. This is a perfect rural retreat set amongst a small woodland and fields beyond. Each cottage has its own private section of the gardens. The Stable Cottage is a beautiful, extremely spacious cottage that has been decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard. The owners of The Stable Cottage have thought of everything to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, including a 42" LCD Freeview TV and Wi-Fi.
Within reach you have easy access to the east coast and the North York Moors. Filey is only five miles away with its Victorian promenade and wide sandy beach, ideal for children. Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington are also worth a visit. In less than an hour you can be in the centre of York, a beautiful historic city with lots of attractions such as the minster, the Railway Museum and the Viking centre. The vibrant nightlife in York is also worth a visit with many real ale pubs as well as sophisticated wine bars and restaurants. Bempton Cliffs is a few minutes’ drive away where you will find the RSPB bird sanctuary. Observe puffins and guillemots in their natural habitat as well as seals and dolphins. Why not take the steam train from Pickering to Whitby passing through the moors filled with heather calling off at Goathland made famous in the TV programme ‘Heartbeat’. Enjoy an evening out at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, famous for most of the world premieres of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays.

Scarborough Castle

This 12th Century castle conceals over 2,500 years of turbulent history. It is said the King Richard III enjoyed the view from the battlements so much that he still walks them today! Specially constructed viewing platforms offer visitors wonderful views of the coastline and town.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

One of the country's most popular steam railways, covering 18 miles between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, travelling through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Stephen Joseph Theatre

The theatre has a national and international reputation and is home to Alan Ayckbourn, the world's most performed living playwright. A backstage tour lasting about 45 minutes can be booked by contacting them.
