Description

Folkton Cottages are situated in the small village of Folkton just inland between the coastal resorts of Scarborough and Filey. All three properties are situated in a peaceful setting, with easy access on to the Wolds Way for walking and cycling. This is a perfect rural retreat set amongst a small woodland and fields beyond. Each cottage has its own private section of the gardens. The Woodlands Cottage is a detached stable conversion, now offering welcoming and homely accommodation for four guests. The property boasts an idyllic sun room where guests can relax and enjoy their evening meal.
Within reach you have easy access to the east coast and the North York Moors. Filey is only five miles away with its Victorian promenade and wide sandy beach, ideal for children. Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington are also worth a visit. In less than an hour you can be in the centre of York, a beautiful historic city with lots of attractions such as the minster, the Railway Museum and the Viking centre. The vibrant nightlife in York is also worth a visit with many real ale pubs as well as sophisticated wine bars and restaurants. Bempton Cliffs is a few minutes’ drive away where you will find the RSPB bird sanctuary. Observe puffins and guillemots in their natural habitat as well as seals and dolphins. Why not take the steam train from Pickering to Whitby passing through the moors filled with heather calling off at Goathland made famous in the TV programme ‘Heartbeat’. Enjoy an evening out at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, famous for most of the world premieres of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays.
Whichever cottage you choose to stay in you are assured a wonderful holiday.
The Woodlands Cottage can be booked with The Stable Cottage (CC244050) and The Lodge (CC244086) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

About the local area

Scarborough is situated at the southern end of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and, together with Filey, offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

Scarborough is a town of two halves, with South Bay full of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and donkey rides, whilst the more genteel North Bay is home to several parks and grand Victorian buildings. The whole family will want to take a trip on the miniature North Bay Railway, which will take you to Sea Life Centre and to the Historic Water Chute and Boating Lake.

Filey is a small traditional seaside town, home to an award-winning museum and a nature reserve that is a haven for wild birds. The town is situated at the eastern end of The Cleveland Way, a long- distance footpath that skirts the Yorkshire Moors and has many beautiful walks with stunning views to offer. Kids will love visiting the Alpamare waterpark for all kinds of aquatic fun, with slides, waves and much more to enjoy.

Within easy reach is the famous Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, which has something to offer every member of the family, from thrilling white-knuckle rides to children's entertainment. For something really out of the ordinary, pay a visit to Pesky Husky, where you can take part in a kennel tour followed by walk or even a trek with these charismatic dogs.
