Mindello is located in a quiet area of Whitby just 200 yards from the beach, with plenty of on road parking just outside the property with a permit provided. This property was built in 1895, at the same time as Bram Stoker was writing his book ’Dracula’ in Whitby. The first owners were Sea Captain Thomas Ormston and his family, his merchant ship the Shipcote was lost, presumed torpedoed off the Norwegian coast in 1915. The house has now been converted into apartments, with views over the sea. Mindello has been tastefully furnished and decorated throughout and the spacious open plan living area is the ideal place to relax in and admire the scenic views. It is a perfect base for couples looking to explore the Yorkshire Coast areas or the North Yorkshire Moors National parks. There are 3 miles of golden sands literally 200 yards from the apartment and a short walk will bring you to all the amenities Whitby has to offer, including a large selection of pubs, quaint antique, gift shops and the famous fish and chip shops. There are also several restaurants that have won many awards for excellent cuisine, especially if you enjoy sea food. Whitby has many, extremely popular, events going on all year round. These include Folk week, music weekends including sixties and soul weekends, and also The Goth Weekends, The Spa Pavilion and the Metropol venues are located just a few hundred yards away from the apartment. Away from the coast you’ll find the North York Moors, with its many tracks and trails that are perfect for exploring the natural beauty such as Falling Foss Waterfall, or even take a steam train from Whitby into the heart of the National Park and ’Heartbeat’ country of Goathland. Mindello is an ideal base for keen ramblers as the 110 mile Cleveland way is right on your doorstep. The walled city of York is just an hour away boasting fantastic cobbled shopping streets, The National Railway Museum and The Jorvik Viking Centre. The tour bus, which passes the door, and is a great way to get around and to make sure you don’t miss out on everything Whitby has to offer. You could also take a trip out on one of the pleasure boats, where you can enjoy a trip around the harbour and out to sea, there you can view Whitby, in all its glory. The lovely coastal resorts of Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all within close proximity and are well worth a visit. Golf and fishing are also available nearby.
