Description

Apple Tree Cottage is a charming, characterful cottage, built in 1740, located in the village of Bewerley, a mere stone’s throw from hotspot Pateley Bridge and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sleeping up to five people in three bedrooms, it combines traditional curb appeal with modern touches and comfort throughout. Upon entering this terraced property, there is an inviting hallway with seating, a table and USB ports, where you can kick off your shoes after a busy day of exploring or rub down the dog after a walk. To the right is a tastefully furnished living room where you can spend the evenings snuggled up in front of the roaring multi-fuel burner and enjoy a film or two on Netflix. There is a spacious dining area for guests to enjoy a lovely home-cooked meal. There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor, all designed with comfort in mind and to leave you recharged after a much deserved break. Outside, the enclosed patio provides an ideal space for dining al fresco during the warmer months. There are fantastic views to the back of the property, and the front faces onto the village green with its cherry trees and bench.

This area really is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. Take advantage of the bike storage in the back garden, which is accessed through the rear of the property through the back gate. With so much to see and do in the area, you will be spoilt for choice. Pateley Bridge is a short walk away with its two award-winning butchers, bakers, pubs/restaurants and the oldest sweetshop in England. The valley of Nidderdale has a wealth of places to eat, from hearty village pubs to a Michelin star restaurant. At the head of Nidderdale, set in incredible landscape, lie two reservoirs; the largest masonry stone dams in the world, which are accessible by car or on foot. The spa town of Harrogate is a short drive away with its unique high street and world class architecture. Ripon’s cathedral and Skipton castle are also readily accessible, as is the Embsay to Bolton Abbey steam railway. All in all, this is the perfect property for couples, friends and families to enjoy at any time of the year. About the local area

Known for its splendid Victorian architecture, huge parkland gardens and its health spas, Harrogate has plenty to offer for a great break in the country. While it lies just 20 miles from York, Harrogate and its surrounding area have enough attractions to make it an ideal holiday destination in its own right.

Among the highlights here are the famous Pump Rooms, which continue to function today just as they did when they pumped water to the Royal Baths from the mid-ninteenth-century.

Also well worth a visit are the parkland areas of Harlow Carr Gardens and Valley Gardens, both of which are open all year round and have a wealth of fascinating plants and wildlife. Between enjoying the gardens, you may want to visit the famous Betty's tea shop for a spot of lunch.

Many of the attractions, however, lie just outside Harrogate itself. For example, Knaresborough Castle -- situated on the York Road, three miles out of town - dates back to the 12th century and sits gloriously on the banks of the river. A little further out (15 miles) is the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal. Built in the 12th century, the abbey grounds include a water mill and an exquisite Elizabethan mansion. The grounds of Studley Royal, meanwhile, are home to more than 500 deer.

Further highlights include Harewood House (7 miles out of town), Skipton Castle (20 miles) and the Settle to Carlisle Railway line, which starts at Settle (30 miles from Harrogate) and is regarded as one of the most spectacular lines in the country.
